EDITORIAL: Jesus, no, but yes to Allah

Senate Democrats are proving once again that no judicial nominee is too extreme for them to stomach. A move seems to be afoot to open debate on the Senate floor this week on the nomination of David Hamilton of Indiana to the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. This judge is a radical’s radical.
Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, the ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee, sent a letter on Friday to his fellow senators outlining his objections to Mr. Hamilton, who is a federal district judge. The senator first objected to Judge Hamilton’s stated belief that judges should effectively amend the Constitution – “writing footnotes to the Constitution,” the judge called it – through evolving case law. Second, Judge Hamilton has publicly and specifically embraced the president’s “empathy standard,” which even Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor has now openly rejected.

Third, Judge Hamilton in many cases has shown an extreme hostility against innocuous expressions of religion in the public square. Mr. Sessions noted, though, that Judge Hamilton’s odd ruling in Hinrichs v. Bosma “prohibited prayers in the Indiana House of Representatives that expressly mentioned Jesus Christ … Yet he allowed prayers which mentioned Allah.”
Fourth, Mr. Sessions pointed out that “lawyers in the Almanac of the Federal Judiciary describe Judge Hamilton as one of the most lenient judges in his district on criminal matters,” including the case of a police officer who videotaped his own sexual encounters with two teenagers. The senator also objects to the judge’s extreme actions in blocking an “informed consent” law on abortion.

Finally, in light of the property rights movement stemming from the Supreme Court’s infamous Kelo decision, property rights advocates may want to take a close look at his representation of the city of Indianapolis in 1992 in Reel Pipe and Valve Co. V. City of Indianapolis, in which property owners were forced to sell property against their will to benefit other private “economic development.”

An Obama administration official has said the nomination is “a kind of signal” about the sorts of judges the president wants. In reviewing Judge Hamilton’s record, that signal should be seen as a red light warning senators to stop this nomination.

President Obama Announces David Hamilton for the United States 7th Circuit Court of Appeals

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, President Barack Obama announced his intent to nominate Judge David Hamilton to the United States 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. Hamilton has served for 14 years as a federal district judge in Indiana. He was appointed United States District Judge for the Southern District of Indiana in 1994 and was named Chief Judge in January of 2008.
President Obama said, “Judge Hamilton has a long and impressive record of service and a history of handing down fair and judicious decisions. He will be a thoughtful and distinguished addition to the 7th circuit and I am extremely pleased to put him forward to serve the people of Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.”
Hamilton previously was an associate and then partner at the Indianapolis firm of Barnes & Thornburg and served as Counsel to then-Governor Evan Bayh of Indiana. Hamilton served as a member of the Indiana State Recount Commission and as chairman of the Indiana State Ethics Committee.

“I enthusiastically support the Senate confirmation of David Hamilton for U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge Hamilton has served the Southern District of Indiana with distinction as U.S. District Court Judge,” U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar said.

Much is being reported in regards to President Obama’s speech at Cairo University—a bold outreach to “the Muslim World.” Unfortunately, not being  factually explained.

The first nation to recognize my country was Morocco…let there be no doubt, Islam is a part of America.” Actually, it was Holland. On November 16,1776, officials at Saint Eustatius in the Dutch West Indies fired “the first salute” to a warship bearing the American flag.

President Obama also cited John Adams’ words when second president signed the Treaty of Tripoli in 1796. Adams stated we had “no enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Muslims.” This presented a problem as the Barbary Pirates operating out of Tripoli continued to prey on American shipping. John Adams attempted to buy them off and failed. By 1800, nearly one-fifth of the federal budget was consumed in trying to pay off predatory rulers in North Africa. When Thomas Jefferson succeeded Adams in 1801, he dispatched warships and U.S. Marines “to the shores of Tripoli” to fight for American rights. Jefferson was determined not to pay tribute to the Muslim rulers of North Africa and to stop their seizing U.S. Merchant ships and selling American seamen into slavery. That effort succeeded.

Yes, Jefferson did own a copy of the Koran as President Obama stated in his speech. But the reason he read it when he was serving as our ambassador in Paris was to see if it could really be true–as Arab diplomats were telling him–that the Koran gave them the right to attack and enslave Americans and all other “infidels.” Jefferson concluded from his reading that America must fight–not pay tribute–to protect its citizens.

Joseph Duncan a homosexual/pedophile strove to obtain such rights as delivered in the Hate Crime Bill.  He believed he held the liberty to murder members of the Groene family in the name of sexual deviancy rights. He kidnapped the two young children, Dylan and Shasta. He rapped and murdered Dylan; fortunately, Shasta was rescued. He also kidnapped, sodomized and murdered a ten year old boy in California. He must be elated with the Hate Crime Bill.  

Due to this bill, Washington can intervene in just about any local or state crime. Because the bill doesn’t define the term “sexual orientation,” it appears pedophiles and practitioners of other bizarre sexual sins can claim protection. Democrats refused to amend the bill to explicitly exclude such “orientations.” If convicted, any American found guilty of a hate crime would face punishment above and beyond the original offense.

Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) tried to point out the ridiculousness of this caste system on the House floor yesterday. To the disgust of the homosexual crowd, she even took on the bill’s “martyr,” Matthew Shepard, whom the Left holds up as an example of why federal hate crimes must receive severer prosecution. The hate crimes bill that’s called the Matthew Shepard Bill is named after him though it has been proven his murder was not a result of a hate crime.  ”It wasn’t because he was gay…” Rep. Foxx was referring to statements made to ABC’s 20/20 by the local authorities, who investigated the crime and stated that Shepard’s death was actually the result of drug abuse–not his homosexuality. The prosecutor who prosecuted these crimes stated that he never believed it was a hate crime. He believes it was a drug crime. Aaron McKinney, according to Aaron McKinney himself and to several other witnesses, was coming down from a five-day methamphetamine binge. He freely admits he not only used methamphetamine but also sold it. Five days up with no sleep, strung out on drugs, desperate to buy more, desperate to rob somebody to get money to buy more drugs. This was the motive, according to Aaron McKinney and the other witnesses. McKinney’s girlfriend and another friend of McKinney’s even claimed that McKinney himself has bisexual tendencies.

This resembles the lies that were presented to get baby murder legalized—through Rowe versus Wade.  Satan’s children will stop at nothing to get every vile thing legalized. They want God’s righteousness eliminated from American life. They do not fear the God who says liars are kept out of heaven.

Sexually wicked people have no morals and care only about self-fulfillment.  Harming others, including children, is not relevant on Capital Hill.  President Obama is having his heyday.    

God says a man and woman are to come together as virgins for a lifetime marriage commitment, forsaking all others.  All other activity is deviant. Yes, Jesus Christ forgives if true repentance is made, but sin can never be justified. (1 John 5:10-13—the Bible)

Democratic pundit James Carville congratuled Obama, saying this is the president-elect’s full and given name, and that he should be proud of it.

She was speaking at Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt, where donors are gathered to pledge billions for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. “We cannot afford more setbacks or delays, or regrets about what might have been had different decisions been made,” Mrs Clinton said. The United States would pledge $900 million (£638 million) to Gaza, she added.

Saudi Arabia has already earmarked £1 billion, and it looked likely that the conference would raise the $2.8 billion that it is estimated is needed to rebuild the homes, factories and infrastructure that were destroyed in the blistering Israeli offensive against Gaza in December last year. Despite the offensive, which was aimed at stopping rockets being fired into Israel from Gaza, Hamas has continued to fire missiles over the border, and says it will continue to do so until the siege is lifted. Israel has said that it will not lift the blockade until Hamas ends its attacks and the crossing points are policed by the Palestinian Authority. Israel has also linked a truce deal to the release of a kidnapped soldier who has been held by Hamas for two and a half years. In exchange for him, however, Hamas is demanding the release of 1,400 Palestinian prisoners, including some of those responsible for deadly suicide attacks and assassinations in Israel. The picture is further complicated by the failure of Hamas and the Western-backed Fatah, which dominates the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, to overcome the deep differences which led to a mini civil war in 2007.

Reconciliation talks have made little progress. Mrs Clinton said that the huge sums being pledged today should be channelled through the Palestinian Authority and not fall into the “wrong hands”, a clear reference to Hamas, which Israel, America and Europe list as a terrorist organisation. Aid workers have warned that any reconstruction efforts will fail if pressure is not exerted to open the border crossings.

At present, Israel does not allow cement or steel through the crossings. “The situation at the border crossings is intolerable. Aid workers do not have access. Essential commodities cannot get in,” Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary General, told the gathering at the Red Sea resort. A Western aid official in Jerusalem said: “It all comes down to the single fact that until the Israelis remove the stranglehold on what is allowed in, all the Sharm el-Sheikhs in the world won’t change things one iota.” President Sarkozy of France stressed the need for Palestinian reconciliation as the basis for any progress, and said that he wanted to see a peace deal by the end of the year. Mrs Clinton, who warned Hamas to stop its rocket fire, said the basis for peace should be a 2002 plan endorsed by the Arab League, whereby Israel would pull back from the West Bank to allow a Palestinian state to be created there and in Gaza, in return for peace accords with the Arab world. Israel has refused to endorse the plan.
