EDITORIAL: Jesus, no, but yes to Allah

Senate Democrats are proving once again that no judicial nominee is too extreme for them to stomach. A move seems to be afoot to open debate on the Senate floor this week on the nomination of David Hamilton of Indiana to the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. This judge is a radical’s radical.
Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, the ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee, sent a letter on Friday to his fellow senators outlining his objections to Mr. Hamilton, who is a federal district judge. The senator first objected to Judge Hamilton’s stated belief that judges should effectively amend the Constitution – “writing footnotes to the Constitution,” the judge called it – through evolving case law. Second, Judge Hamilton has publicly and specifically embraced the president’s “empathy standard,” which even Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor has now openly rejected.

Third, Judge Hamilton in many cases has shown an extreme hostility against innocuous expressions of religion in the public square. Mr. Sessions noted, though, that Judge Hamilton’s odd ruling in Hinrichs v. Bosma “prohibited prayers in the Indiana House of Representatives that expressly mentioned Jesus Christ … Yet he allowed prayers which mentioned Allah.”
Fourth, Mr. Sessions pointed out that “lawyers in the Almanac of the Federal Judiciary describe Judge Hamilton as one of the most lenient judges in his district on criminal matters,” including the case of a police officer who videotaped his own sexual encounters with two teenagers. The senator also objects to the judge’s extreme actions in blocking an “informed consent” law on abortion.

Finally, in light of the property rights movement stemming from the Supreme Court’s infamous Kelo decision, property rights advocates may want to take a close look at his representation of the city of Indianapolis in 1992 in Reel Pipe and Valve Co. V. City of Indianapolis, in which property owners were forced to sell property against their will to benefit other private “economic development.”

An Obama administration official has said the nomination is “a kind of signal” about the sorts of judges the president wants. In reviewing Judge Hamilton’s record, that signal should be seen as a red light warning senators to stop this nomination.

President Obama Announces David Hamilton for the United States 7th Circuit Court of Appeals

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, President Barack Obama announced his intent to nominate Judge David Hamilton to the United States 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. Hamilton has served for 14 years as a federal district judge in Indiana. He was appointed United States District Judge for the Southern District of Indiana in 1994 and was named Chief Judge in January of 2008.
President Obama said, “Judge Hamilton has a long and impressive record of service and a history of handing down fair and judicious decisions. He will be a thoughtful and distinguished addition to the 7th circuit and I am extremely pleased to put him forward to serve the people of Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.”
Hamilton previously was an associate and then partner at the Indianapolis firm of Barnes & Thornburg and served as Counsel to then-Governor Evan Bayh of Indiana. Hamilton served as a member of the Indiana State Recount Commission and as chairman of the Indiana State Ethics Committee.

“I enthusiastically support the Senate confirmation of David Hamilton for U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge Hamilton has served the Southern District of Indiana with distinction as U.S. District Court Judge,” U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar said.

“I was proud to work side by side with Senator Lugar to recommend Judge Hamilton for this lifetime appointment,” said U.S. Senator Evan Bayh. “President Obama is right that Democrats and Republicans can work together to put highly qualified jurists on the federal bench. Hamilton is a graduate of Yale Law School and studied at the University of Tuebingen in Germany on a Fulbright scholarship. He is an emeritus member of the board of visitors of the Indiana University School of Law.

The Case for Killing Granny

 

 

I must tell you, I was quite disturbed to read the article, “The Case for Killing Granny,” in my father-in-law’s copy of Newsweek, dated September 21, 2009. This written defense was completely pro President Obama and his desire to NOT prolong the lives of the elderly and help save our government megabucks.  It spoke to our president and how he has informed us that the elderly take a large slice of our revenue. If we don’t spend our money on seniors, we can have more money, according to the article, which is obviously reinforcing our president’s stands.  It’s ok to divvy credit so people can own better cars and to assist Planned Parenthood, ACORN, etc…but don’t spend it on the aged.  Spend outrageous amounts of money keeping murderers alive, but kill innocent Granny.

 

This article also informs us that health care has to be rationed! So who do we ration? Those who can’t argue—those with little or no voice. This includes those classified in the area of special medical needs. Our present administration is very callous to those people they believe should have been aborted because they did not arrive perfect in form.  Those who own the best quality of life are those who deserve life, this appears to be today’s socialist/Marxist motto. 

 

The Bible speaks of the wicked seeking to kill the innocent (Psalm 10:8-9) and that is the platform of our government administration. They want to kill the defenseless—unborn babies and the elderly. Christians certainly need to be in prayer for people in leadership to accept Christ as their Savior, and for justice to reign in our land.

Obama’s Democrats Lie—Abortion Not Part of Health Care Reform

Because of recent high pressure from the public, the democrats are now saying the Health Care Reform Bill, HR 3200, does not cover abortions; however they have rejected every amendment to ban abortions from the Bill.

“A similar amendment offered by Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) to the Senate health care legislation banning federally funded abortions was rejected last week.”

The Obama administration includes it in its definition of reproductive health care. “Reproductive health care includes access to abortion.” (Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, July 19)

Senior Senator, Barbara Mikulski, on July 9, at a Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions-HELP-Committee meeting, stated the bill would include abortion coverage.

(not seen) held a press conference on Tuesday in support of amending Obama’s health care plan to forbid the use of federal funds for abortions.

Democrats in both the House and the Senate want abortion be included as a health benefit in both government and private insurance plans leading to millions more abortions, a Republican lawmaker warned.

Taxpayer money would be used to pay for abortions in the government-run health care option.

But congressional Republicans strongly opposed to an abortion requirement in health care reform, are pushing for a ban on using taxpayer money to pay for such procedures.

On Tuesday, pro-life members of Congress said the plan’s approach to abortion is essentially the same as the Freedom of Choice Act, which would strip states’ right to limit abortion, establish abortion on demand across the country and allow federal funds to pay for the procedure.

“It’s really trying to pass the Freedom of Choice Act through this legislation and wipe out all state law — state law that abides by the Constitution abides by everything that was said by the Supreme Court under Roe v. Wade” Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.) said Tuesday at a Capitol Hill press conference.

“Despite the fact that large majorities of Americans don’t want to fund abortion, the Obama-Kennedy-Dingle bill will nevertheless force every taxpayer and every premium payer in the United States to pay for and facilitate every abortion in the country” Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) said…

Gingrey and Smith joined other pro-life members of Congress in support of Rep. Joe Pitts’ (R-Pa.) sponsorship of an amendment to the House version of Obama’s health care plan, which is slated for mark-up this week.

A similar amendment offered by Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) to the Senate health care legislation banning federally funded abortions was rejected last week.

Pitts, chairman of the House Values Action Team, said history shows that if legislation doesn’t include language to specifically exclude abortion, federal funds will be used, as was the case before Rep. Henry Hyde proposed the Hyde amendment to prohibit the use of taxpayer dollars to pay for abortions through Medicaid.

“This legislation will mandate and subsidize abortion and then tax Americans who stand for one of the very principles that this nation was founded on – the right to life” Pitts said.

Representatives at the conference said language specifically prohibiting the use of federal funds for abortion is also vital because of an “advisory committee” that will be responsible for determining what basic services will be included in the plan after it becomes law.

“The legislation vests new, huge, sweeping powers in an Obama-appointed committee tasked with establishing what is called essential health benefits that all plans must include” Smith said. “Of course all that comes after the enactment and the signing into law the legislation.”

Smith added that abortion will be included in those benefits.

“What we want to stress here is this benefits committee – which is unelected and there will be minimal oversight – when they put together their minimum benefits of which abortion absolutely will be included on demand” he said…

Rep. Mary Fallin (R-Okla.) called on President Obama to clarify his position on abortion being funded by federal dollars in his health care plan.
At the press conference, Rep. Mary Fallin (R-Okla.) called on President Obama to address the abortion aspect of his health care plan.

“If the president is serious about passing true health care reform, he needs to step up today and clarify his position” Fallin said. “In fact, I’m calling on the president today to clarify his position about whether he wants abortion to be included in his health care reform.

“The majority of Americans think that life is sacred and it begins at conception, and if this plan is not fixed to make it very clear that it will not fund abortion, I will not support his legislation” Fallin said.

When asked by CNSNews.com about the success of Pitt’s amendment, Pitt said aside from the pro-life Republicans who support it, some pro-life Democrats are speaking out against abortion being covered in the health care plan.

Representatives at the press conference said not only will the plan without Pitt’s amendment increase the number of abortions, but will likely also increase the number of abortion providers given language in the bill that calls for access to health care, which they said includes abortions as the bill now stands…

This little guy ran up to me and I was thrilled. However, his parents were not and they quickly derailed his trial. I love this time of the year when I can see these golden babies running amuck in our favorite park. Once or twice, I have had to pick up a lost gosling and place it with parents who adhere to “the more the better.” Some parents will try to kill a lonely gosling who does not own their scent that attempts to join their clan. I have exercised caution with placement.

Wednesday night we heard a Canadian Christian speak, relaying God’s handiwork in Canada. People are coming to Christ via having Bibles placed in their hands. His stories were miraculous and we were all deeply blessed. It is amazing how many people serve the LORD as pastors and missionaries after coming to Christ through the best evangelistic tool—the Bible. 

 

This speaker also addressed Canada’s very liberal government; however, God has been good, as He has set in place a new Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, who is a Christian and totally supports Israel. Praise the LORD! 

 

I heard on the news today that people are in an uproar with our American administration calling our military personnel and conservatives— terrorists. Hopefully, legal changes will ensue with Homeland Security directives.

Parental Rights Removed—More Government Control Over Parents:

  

An official with the U.S. Food and Drug ordered FDA officials to make Plan B (morning after pill) available over-the-counter to minors as young as 17. The Department of Justice should be called in to defend the FDA guidelines on Plan B. However, the Obama administration has decided to roll over and accept the court decision without a single appeal. Essentially, the President is allowing a lone federal district judge to make a scientific decision that affects the health and safety of women across America.  

 

 

Hillary Traveling the Road of Murder:

 

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated that her department would work to overturn pro-life legislation in other countries. Very distressing indeed! May God intervene. Clinton was asked pointedly by Reps. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) and Jeff Fortenberry (R-Nebr.) whether “reproductive health” (as defined by this administration) would include abortion and she replied “yes.”

 

Hate Crime Prejudice: 

 

Under the new “Hate Crime” bill, people who commit certain crimes would face stiffer punishment for any prejudice they might have toward homosexuals and transgenders. In essence, it singles out some Americans for “extra protection” under the law based upon their sexual behavior. Thanks to the stack of amendments by some republicans things were delayed. They highlighted the absurdity of the bill by asking Democrats to extend the same unique status to the elderly, the military, pregnant women, and the unborn. Every Democrat who was present at the hearing voted against adding these groups as a “protected class.” Their prejudice is notably evident.

President Obama—Conservative Americans are the True Terrorists

The agency’s report on “Rightwing Extremism,” surfaced this week in police departments all across the U.S., advising law enforcers to be on the lookout for conservatives—being defined as anyone who agrees that the power of the federal government should yield to state and local control. In other words, even the Founding Fathers would qualify; along with everyone who believes in the Tenth Amendment. This is President Obama’s new America.

The underlying purpose of Secretary Janet Napolitano’s watch list is quite obvious. It aims to silence conservatives who state a voice for goodness and life, especially those who don’t see the federal government as the answer to every problem. It marginalizes those who believe all life should be protected (born and unborn) and those who define marriage as a union between a man and a woman. This new policy also condemns those who believe people should have the right to bear arms.

This advisory singles out conservatives for scrutiny, even going so far as to question the loyalty of military vets who have served our nation sacrificially. The alert is an attempt to extinguish any critique of the current administration.

It seems James Madison was prophetic when he said, “The means of defense against foreign danger historically have become the instruments of tyranny at home.”
